Orientation and First Year Programs was established to support incoming students throughout their first year at NIU. The office coordinates orientation, Week of Welcome, UNIV 101 and 201, as well as support programs including the First-Year Success Series, Common Read and mentoring.
Mission Statement
The Office of Orientation and First Year Programs welcomes new students and their family members to the NIU community. We also work in partnership to introduce all new undergraduate students to NIU through the creation of environments and programming that help students to attain active learning experiences, opportunity to engage with others who have diverse perspectives and personal and professional growth.
